Here is a good Gingerbread cookie dough recipe to help you start your holiday baking:

Gingerbread Cookie Dough 

1/2 cups shortening
1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cups molasses
1/4 cup water
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon or pumpkin spice
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1. In a large bowl cream shortening and sugar
2. Beat in eggs, molasses and water
3. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices
4. Gradually blend the dry into the wet
5. Chill for a least an hour or freeze until ready to use
6. On a floured board roll the dough to 1/4 or 1/8 inch
7. Cut into desired shapes
8. Bake for 8-10 mins
9. Cool and decorate

Chocolate chip cookies.
3/4 each brown & white sugar
1 cup margarine
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp salt
2 cups flour
2 cups chocolate chips

Cream sugar & margarine then slowly add eggs
Mix dry ingredients then slowly add and mix well. Now add your chips.
Bake at 350 about 8-12 minutes. Cool and enjoy
